The monograph considers Russia's tax structure at the end of XIXth - beginning of XXth centuries by the example of Kursk province - a typical agrarian region of the Russian Empire. The author analyses various problems of state fiscal policy: condition and activities of local financial institutions, creation of tax institution in Russia, work of special institutions for allocation and control of taxes. There is also a description of main imperial taxes: state (permanent and temporary) and local. The author illustrates the subject using archival and printed sources.
