The second volume of the monograph inquires into history of Sakhalin and the Kurile Islands during the XIXth century. In addition to historical and scientific sources of historians and researchers from different countries, notes and diaries of real participants, the author uses archival materials that haven't been published before and help to reveal peculiarities of development of the territorial problem between Russian and Japan.
