The first half of the XIXth century is known as the Golden Age of Russian culture. In that period the world was changing rapidly. Europe was enveloped with a violent wave of revolutions. Capitalist relations strengthened both in economy and social life. That approach determined development of the Russian art in the middle of the XIXth century. It was the time when the realist trend prevailed in art and culture on the whole. The album contains almost 150 color reproductions of the most typical paintings of that time.
