Vytautas Radzvilas (born 1958) is a political philosopher, a long-time professor at Vilnius University. This is one of the most profound attempts to answer the question of how a nation should look at its history and on what principles to form its collective memory. In the last part of the book, we move from universal topics to the more specific question of national revival at different stages of Lithuanian history. A parallel is drawn between the revival of the Lithuanian nation in the 19th century and the need and opportunities for such a revival in the face of existential challenges posed to Lithuania in the 21st century.
