History and Tradition: Essays on Historiography and the History of Ideas At the center of the work are the place and role of the Kosovo Covenant and church tradition in the history of the Serbian people. On the one hand, the author investigates the extent to which the Kosovo Covenant conditioned the specific identity of the Serbian people, and on the other, he reveals the trajectories of tradition in the very understanding of history. He pays special attention to the relationship between traditional and modern thought, the covenant and the new age from the First Serbian Uprising to the present. In many ways, this book is revolutionary. It offers a significantly different understanding of Serbian history, but in a scientifically scrupulous and modern way. Milos Kovic convincingly shows that there are continuities where the modern era has overlooked, that is, that the events of Serbian history since the Great Migration in 1690 reflect much more of our ancient medieval tradition than Serbian intellectuals were ready to accept.
