The book can be used for organization of studying activity of students in lectures, practice classes and independent work. The content of the textbook correlates the main units of the discipline program “History and theory of fonts”, which is included in the block of OPOP undergraduate courses in the direction of “Publishing”. The aim of the textbook is to form general idea about the theory of fonts and about the history of Old Russian and Latin handwritings. Theoretical materials are dedicated to the study of terminology and typography, specifics of font construction, general classification of fonts.
