The publication contains fundamental works of academician Boris Piotrovsky (1908-1990). Thanks to the works of Boris Piotrovsky and his students the study of Urartian culture developed in the 1950s - 1960s. This enabled to determine the value of Urartu in the history of Ancient East and Scythia. The book is supplemented with a catalogue of Urartu antiquities stored in the Oriental Department of the State Hermitage. The catalogue is published for the first time.
