The Historical Phonetics of the Albanian Language is the second part of the text Introduction to the History of the Albanian Language. It is therefore the first synthesis of the achievements of this branch of knowledge so important for Albanian language. Both books were written by the author for the needs of the students of the University of Tirana in the 1950s, when Cabej was a lecturer in the subject of linguistic history at that university and when such texts were pioneers.
