Joseph Brodsky was one of the greatest Russian poets of the XXth century. During his relatively short life he created a number of poems, as well as the works of a unique genre created by him - the one of “large poems”. Being faithful to the traditions of such Russian classics as Alexander Pushkin and Mikhail Lermontov, J.Brodsky broadened the field of his creative work. He was the author of plays and essays, most of which were written in English. In 1987 Brodsky was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature. The present edition comprises three poetic collections by J.Brodsky: “A Stop in the Desert”, “The End of a Wonderful Epoch” and “The Parts of Speech” published by an American publishing house “Ardis” in 1970-1977.
