Bogomir Herman is recognized primarily by the historiography of the Yugoslav communist movement and Krlezology as ABC, the author of the article Quo vadis Krlez, which started the conflict on the literary left. In doing so, ABC was marked as a representative of the dogmatic understanding of the role of art and literature as instruments for achieving political goals determined by the Comintern under Stalin's leadership (...)\ The fact that Herman was one of those left-wing intellectuals who was among the first to criticize Stalin's policies in the 1930s indicated is the complete senselessness of the sentence to imprisonment in the camp intended for the followers of Stalin and the Cominform. Refusing to revise his views because he had nothing to revise, Herman spent his imprisonment on Goli Otok in the harshest conditions in the so-called Peter's pit. After his release from captivity on the Bald Islands, he dedicated himself to translations of professional books and literary works from Russian and German (...)\ Hermann's criticism of the Comintern's policy of cooperation with the German Nazis, as well as his disagreement with the Stalinist processes against prominent Soviet revolutionaries of the 1930s, made him suspect in the eyes party leaders. The two general secretaries of the KPJ, Milan Gorkic and Tito, carrying out the Stalinization and Bolshevization of the Party, marked Herman as a dangerous Trotskyist. Thus, the Stalinists organized in the KPJ proclaimed Herman a Trotskyist at the same time as Krleza and Pecatov accused him of being a Stalinist.
