For the first time in historiography, a statistical analysis of the profitability of handicrafts and their localization in the provinces and regions of the empire is carried out with the use of modern computer technologies and programs. A close attention is paid to the state policy of the support of handicrafts not only in the Central Gubernias of Russia, but also on the outskirts of the Empire: in Asian Russia, the Caucasus, and the Kingdom of Poland.
