Ronelda S. Kamfer made her debut in 2009 with Noudat slapende honde, and Grond/Santekraam followed in 2011. Her her new collection, Hammie, Kamfer's poems echo themes from her previous works, but engages in particular with the complex relationship between mother and daughter. Largely autobiographical, this collection revisits Kamfer's Capetonian childhood while interrogating issues surrounding language, culture and history. It deals with loss, love, and the things we leave unsaid. Ronelda Kamfer at her best.
