The book contains works by Russian schoolchildren sent to the All-Russian contest among senior pupils “Man in History. Russia – the XXth Century”, which is held annually by the “Memorial” association. In 2004 the International Research Center of Russian and East-European Jews instituted a special nomination for the best works on the topic. Part of them are included into the present book.
