The overall estimate of Belarusian immigrants in the US is between 600 thousand and 750 thousand people (this estimate only includes actual immigrants, not people of Belarusian origin who were born in the US). The exact number of Belarusian Americans is difficult to determine because census and immigration statistics have long not recognized Belarusians as a separate category. Many of them were registered as Russians or Poles, depending on the region of Belarus in which they were born.
