This book is about the Chekists of the Arctic, about the harsh region - the Nenets district, washed by the icy waters of the northern seas, and its people. For a complete understanding of the events described in the book, the reader will first be asked to familiarize himself with the history of the district from the Paleolithic to the creation in 1929 of an administrative entity within the Soviet Union.
What follows is a story about the arduous life in the district, in which many significant changes have taken place over time. The socio-economic development of the nomadic peoples - the Nenets and Komi - proceeded at an accelerated pace, remote areas were successfully mastered, and in a historically short time it was possible to give new impetus to the industrial development of the North. An important role in the formation of the region was played by the Chekists, this book is about their responsible and painstaking work against the background of the life path and development of the district.
