The long-livers are the most ancient people who once lived on Earth. After a series of circumstances, they find themselves deep underground and with the help of magic they manage to create a magical world there. Eleven-year-old Surkhan Malik is suspected of being the child from the prophecy and is banished to live in the forest. In the mysterious and enigmatic forest, the boy encounters the marids, predatory animals who have suffered from dark energy.
