This book is a collection of sermons, speeches and articles devoted to the crucial events in recent Latvian history. For Latvians it is a kind of a religion now. 'Definitely, God has guided both our nation and our state', - writes the author. Although as a historical ethnos Latvians have a long history - about thousand years, the history of the Latvian state is relatively short: 1918-1949 and 1991 - to the present day. The rest has been spent under the yoke of other nations and regimes. All of them, but the latter in particular, have left a specific seal on the nation and its history. The author, being a Lutheran pastor, attempts to reflect those dramatic events from a Christian viewpoint, looking for God's guidance and promises even in the most dramatic moments.
