Margaret Hilda Thatcher, Baroness Thatcher (née Roberts; 13 October 1925 – 8 April 2013) was a British statesman and politician.
Prime Minister of Great Britain (UK Conservative Party) 1979–1990, Leader of the Conservative Party 1975–1990, Baroness since 1992. The first woman to hold this post, as well as the first woman to become prime minister of a European state.
She received the nickname “Iron Lady” for her harsh criticism of the Soviet leadership. She implemented a number of conservative measures that became part of the policy of so-called “Thatcherism”.
