The author of the book draws on the unquestionable fact that man is a human genius with such a cognitive and creative potential that has enabled him and still allows him to create human civilization and culture. But the human being has another interesting quality, and that is his ambition to know and know such things that are unrecognizable to him. This is due to the fact that he is still only a person with limited cognitive equipment, which limits him in cognition and thus his (our) cognition is not and will never be complete, but only partial. That is why the author of the book called it grains of knowledge. These grains relate mainly to the knowledge of the Universe and the knowledge of the human psyche and the human brain. These grains (this knowledge) are much larger in physics, mathematics, biology and chemistry. That is why we are witnessing what we call today the civilization of the 21st century. But the desire of the impossible to know the unknowable is and will always be present in man, it will remain the notorious line of the unknown. It is gratifying, however, that all these limitations in human cognition are not at all an obstacle to one's full knowledge of what human happiness is. The book is illustrated with works of art by the late Martin Benka, with whom the author of the book communicated in writing in 1954 and with this illustration honored his memory.
