This book finishes the trilogy dedicated to the political biography of G. R. Derzhavin. The book considers its basic stages during the reign of the Emperor Alexander I. Administration of Derzhavin as the first Minister of Justice of the Russian Empire and General Procurator of Senate (September 1802 — October 1803) is in the center of the monograph. Research is undertaken with the unique archive materials of the national archives of Moscow and St. Petersburg that are introduced for scientific use for the first time.
The issue contains the detailed analysis of results of the senate audit carried out by Derzhavin in 1802 of the Kaluga province, as well as the analysis of the content of notes and suggestions about government, court, justice system and army reforming. It considers lots of legislative initiatives of Derzhavin including the ones approved by the throne. Special attention is paid to Derzhavin's private life in retirement, to his relationships with relatives and friends. Strong contribution of Derzhavin politician into the development of the Russian state and topicality of some of his suggestions are presented in conclusion.
Appendix contains unpublished materials to biography of G.R. Derzhavin from the collection of Manuscript Department of National Library of Russia (MD NLR), funds of the Russian State Archive of Ancient Acts (RSAAA) and the Russian State Historical Archive (RSHA).
