The monograph is devoted to the ancient Russian literary legend about the holy and great prince of Kiev Vladimir Svyatoslavich. It analyzes hagiographical, panegyric and hymnographic texts of the 11th-17th centuries, but not in relation to the facts they contain about the life and work of the Baptist of Rus', but in relation to the evaluative characteristics of the great transformer of Russian life that distinguish them. The book is the first to consistently examine the thoughts of ancient Russian scribes about him, expressed in different genre formats: either in the form of individual verbal formulas and expressions, or in the form of detailed author's digressions, or in the form of entire works.
