The legacy of A. S. Pushkin, until recently considered inviolable, is now increasingly becoming an object of revision: the focus of critics is on the patriarchal, imperial and militaristic meanings contained in it. Ilya Vinitsky opposes another approach to ideological assessments - literary analysis, a problematic reading of the classic's texts and a reconstruction of the contexts in which they were created. The author sees his task in showing Pushkin's work as a paradoxical and living intersection of the most diverse traditions, ideas and cultural trends, as well as in exploring different scenarios of Pushkin's mythologization: from state-propaganda and imperial to liberal-educational and émigré.
