The collection contains the materials of the interregional research and practical conference "The German population in the South Urals in the war and post-war years (to the 70th anniversary of the deportation of the German population of the USSR)", which took place in Orenburg on April 29, 2011. The presented materials examine the situation of the German population of the South Urals in the pre-war years, the economic, social, political and cultural situation of the German population in places of deportation, analyze the practice of implementing a policy of labor mobilization in the South Urals during the Great Patriotic War and establishing a special settlement regime as a continuation of the state policy in attitude of the Soviet Germans. The collection contains individual biographical data and extensive photographic material illustrating the life of the German population of the Orenburg region in the pre-war, war and post-war periods.
