P.P.Viber is the first in Russian historiography to introduce an attempt in a sophisticated study of the history of social-economic development of German colonies in Siberia from the late XIXth century to 1930. The author investigates legal field, in which German colonization of Siberia took place, determines the principal areas of the colonists' settlement and, in conclusion, examines results of their economic activities in the migrant lands and farm enterprises.
