The book is dedicated to a prominent St. Petersburg’s film director, who was also a skillful teacher, who brought up several generations of theater masters. During several years his post-graduate student Semen Losev had taken notes of his lessons. Now Losev is the head of a theater in Stary Oskol. Published for the first time, rehearsal records make the basis of the present book. Apart from the lessons notes the book includes notes taken during rehearsals of some famous performances.
