The author was able to trace the history of almost all the ancient surnames of the sub-monastic settlements of the Rostov Borisoglebsky Monastery from the end of the 17th century. The main part of the lists covers the period from 1716 to 1858; for the old surnames of the suburban settlements, data from the Census Book of 1678 are included.
