Gatchina became the royal residence under Paul I. It occupies a special place among palaces and park ensembles of St. Petersburg. The book is based on the memoirs of contemporaries of the Russian emperors from Catherine II to Nicholas II and presents the history of Gatchina with its romantic palace and wonderful parks.
