Exhibition catalog From war to new country. A century ago, the Slovenian people crossed a large historical turning point. The Austro-Hungarian Monarchy was exhausted during the war, it was its last battle. Even before the official end of the war, its southern Slavic part was separated from the decaying state and renamed the State of Slovenes, Croats and Serbs. The State of SHS, which was a reflection of the May Declaration, was established on October 29, 1918. It was not recognized internationally, it was threatened by Italian appetites, but after the successful diplomatic efforts of the Kingdom of Serbia, on December 1, 1918, it became part of the newly established Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes.
