The history of the Georgian settlements in Moscow traced since the 50-s of the XVII century when Georgian prince Nikolai Davidovich visited Moscow and resided here for 20 years afterwards. The process of strengthening of the political and military union between Russian Empire and Georgia in Peter the First time (the end of the XVII- the beginning of the XVIII cc.) was accompanied by a growing number of Georgian settlements in Moscow and some other Russian regions. The first colonists were representatives of tsar's family with retinue often acquiring status of political emigrants. In course of time they officially became citizens of Russia with all respective rights and responsibilities... The author shows the role of "Russian Georgians" in the development of Russian culture and science, their participation in military campaigns, politics and many other facets of life.
