70-year Russian occupation of Georgia. The main color is red. The series “Red 70” brings together books written about the Soviet regime, which were created by great Georgian writers and critics during and after the Soviet era. The aim of the series is to remind some readers with reliable, epoch-making publications, and to tell, teach and make the new generation understand the scale of cruelty, terror and repression that the 70 years of our country’s recent history have witnessed, and how all this has affected the development of our statehood, culture and science. In 1937, thanks to the writer’s daughter, Ketevan Javakhishvili, Ubi’s notebooks, which the great writer kept from 1924 to 1935, survived a series of searches in the apartment of the already imprisoned Mikheil Javakhishvili. The Chekists who arrived at the Georgian classicist’s apartment could not imagine that they would lose the manuscripts in which Javakhishvili had recorded numerous observations about the entire Soviet regime. The notes clearly show that the writer’s personal and creative life was filled with criticism, insults and threats. His spiritual biography and artistic searches were carved out page by page. The reader is presented with the great writer’s passion for solving numerous everyday, national, social and literary mysteries.
