In his work over the last few years, the renowned Bulgarian linguist, Academician Mihail Videnov, has focused on the status and the mutual influence between languages. As a longtime professor at Sofia University, he has discussed these matters in his lectures and specialty courses. Videnov has worked in the field of sociolinguistics, dialectology, the philosophy of language, paralinguistics, and Bulgarian and Slavic grammar. He is honorary chairman of the International Sociolinguistic Society and chairman of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
