The collection unites materials of two international conferences that was held in Moscow in 1995 and 1997. Numerous specialists in the sphere of folk culture, philology, history and ethnolinguistics from Israel, Russia, Ukraine and Bulgaria took part in them. For the first time a comparative analysis of texts forming the so-called 'popular Bible' in Slavonic and Jewish cultural traditions is made.
