The ancient Greek word "aleteya" ("truth") literally means "absence of oblivion." Having lost your memory, you inevitably lose the truth - this is the conclusion of the heroine of the story Elena Bravo "Forgiveness" Belarusian Larissa Vashkevich, forced to care in Germany, Hans Kraus - her husband's seriously ill father. One day Larissa, whose family suffered from fascism during the years of occupation of Belarus, learns that Hans was serving in the Wehrmacht at that time, and not somewhere, but in her hometown. The woman's decision is unequivocal: to leave the house of the former occupier. However, neither the husband, nor the emigrant compatriot, nor even the adult daughter understand it. So what makes Larysa Vashkevich not sleep at night: the antics of a former German soldier who suffers from Alzheimer's disease and therefore believes that the war is still going on? A game of colored glasses in the kaleidoscope of Mnemosyne? Or the “fixation of affect” of historical memory?
