The monograph deals with the least studied topics concerning historical development of the Russian Far East in the previous century - the lifestyles of the prisoners of war in the region's territory. Based on recently discovered archival documents, the book investigates how the Germans, the Hungarians, and the Czechs were treated during WWI as well as during the civil war and military intervention years (April 1918 - October 1922). Major attention is paid to Japanese prisoners of war in the Russian Far East within the period since September 1945 up to December 1956.
