The monograph represents complex research devoted to the foreign population living in cities of the Russian Far East in the second half of the XIXth - the beginning of the XXth century. The author inquires into quantity, structure, and peculiarities of foreigners' settlement in the cities of the region. For the first time the age and sex structure of foreign nationals in dynamics, distinctions in the correlations of immigrants' sexes and age groups are examined, and their contribution to cities’ economy is estimated. The work analyzes all-Russian legislation that regulated the status of foreign nationals, order of entry and stay on the territory of Russia, economy, as well as legal regulations that functioned at the regional level. Special attention is paid to the status of nationals of enemy's countries on the eve and during the First World War.
