Tyumen is the first Russian city in Siberia. Due to its geographical position, the city was bound to become the most advanced in Siberia. In the XVIII–XIX centuries, Tyumen was in many ways ahead of the development of large Siberian cities. All innovations came from European Russia via Tyumen, and all new ideas were applied here for the first time. This publication reflects the priorities of Tyumen in the Siberian history of the XVI – early XX century.
