A unique publication, 'Karol Kallay - Focused on Beauty' presents for the first time the work of an iconic Slovak photographer in the field of fashion photography. It will not only introduce the reader to the remarkable life of the photographer, but will also acquaint him with the short history of this genre. Karol Kallay started in the environment of Czechoslovakia as a photographer in the magazine Moda - textil. He later collaborated with the German magazines Saison and Sibylle and the Parisian magazine Jardin des Modes. He has been involved in fashion for more than thirty years and we can consider him the founder of fashion photography in Slovakia. In his best films, he combined staged photography with a documentary approach and thus used his experience as a reportage photographer. Thanks to his courage, invention and persistent effort to match the quality of other world photographers, he managed to establish himself abroad. Art historians Lucia Almasiova and Zuzana Sidlikova present Karol Kallay's domestic and foreign projects, supplemented by the memories of models with whom the photographer collaborated. The attractive pictorial material, selected and compiled by Richard Kucera Guzman, is part of the extensive and largely unpublished archive of Karol Kallay.
