The core of the book is an extensive interview with Frantisek Wiendl Jr. (born 1923) conducted by his son Jan (born 1969) about the liminal situations and events that Frantisek Wiendl and his closest ones experienced during the long periods of two totalitarian regimes in Bohemia. During the Second World War and the Protectorate, Frantisek Wiendl participated in resistance activities with his father and took a direct part in the uprising in Klatovy in May 1945. However, the focus of his memories lies mainly in the period after February 1948, when he was significantly involved in the democratic, anti-communist resistance. The consequence for him was many years of imprisonment in the Jachymov camps as well as in fixed prisons.
