The author summarizes a range of sources, devoted to the study of farming culture of the Udmurts beginning from the late XIXth to the early XXth century. The research concentrates upon characterization of the notion "farming culture", determination of peculiarities of the farmers' way of life both in production and spiritual spheres, not to mention basic preconditions and trends of agricultural development, organization of living environment, and natural-empiric knowledge and religious-mythological world outlook in Udmurt agriculture.
