The publication presents another segment of modern villa development, concentrated after Osada Baba, Hanspaulka and Bubenec on one important part of Prague 6 - Stresovice. This undoubtedly admirable enclave of residential housing has at the same time one specific characteristic of its development, which is due not only to the basic reasoning, when from the very beginning it was intended for residential housing in the city plans, but above all to the announced competition for a garden city, the results of which were subsequently brought to life by regulatory plans and great architecture. But this was not the only specific feature of the area. Unlike Hanspaulka, or especially Bubenec, which is characterised by a preponderance of ostentatious villa buildings, the intention was to create a garden city here, consisting of houses, semi-detached houses or terraced houses, not of a luxurious, ostentatious format, but in principle two-, three- and four-roomed, moreover, built by building cooperatives, and therefore available mainly to the official class of employees of state or public institutions. It was the relatively strict rules, which to some extent copied the theory and practice of Ebenezer Howard in establishing such units abroad, that gave the whole district an unmistakable character not found in other neighbourhoods conceived in this way.
