The edition is the first volume of the documentary series "Famine in the USSR. 1929-1934." It presents the documents of central and regional archives of the Russian Federation, as well as archives of the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Kazakhstan, describing the causes and the initial period of the great tragedy of the USSR - mass famine of the beginning of the 1930-ies that culminated in 1933.
