The monograph is dedicated to examination of the ethnic culture of the teleuts, one of the scanty peoples of Siberia. On the basis of the teleuts’ material a complex analysis of the family and community - the two most important traditional institutes constituting the basis of social organization - was made. These institutes are characterized in the context of three historical periods: pre-Soviet (the XIXth -beginning of the XXth century), Soviet and post-Soviet ones. The modern tendencies of these institutes’ development are discovered.
