The book reveals complex and little-known pages of the history of the Ukrainian people, part of which, having found itself in communist Poland after the Second World War, was deprived of its small homeland. The deportations of Ukrainians began in 1944–1946 with forced relocations to Soviet Ukraine, and continued in 1947 with Operation Vistula, which involved the eviction of Ukrainians from their native lands and scattering in the western and northern voivodships of Poland. Poland's policy was aimed at creating a mono-national Polish state, creating all sorts of obstacles to the return of Ukrainians. The book is written on the basis of Polish sources, which remain inaccessible to Ukrainian historians.
