The book presents the first attempt to study the history of Jews in Volyn' at the end of the seventeenth - the beginning of the twentieth centuries. Taking into consideration a wide range of archival documents the authors analyze the reasons for Jews' settling in different parts of Volyn', focus on their economic, cultural and social life. Much attention is paid to the relations of Jews with Ukrainians and other ethnic groups.
