The textbook addresses the issues related to the Russian policy toward former Soviet republics. Much attention is paid to the establishment and functioning of the CIS. The authors analyze in detail the evolution of the Russian policy in respect of certain regions of post-Soviet space, i.e. the Caspian, the Black Sea, Central Asia and South Caucasus. The authors consider as well bilateral relations with key countries of the former Soviet Union in terms of the Russian interests - the Ukraine and Belarus.
