Evgeny Mikhailovich Tyazhelnikov (1928-2020) was a Soviet and party worker, diplomat; member of the CPSU Central Committee; Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR; Rector of South Ural State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University in 1961-1964; Secretary of the Chelyabinsk Regional Committee of the CPSU (1964-1968); First Secretary of the Komsomol Central Committee (1968-1977); Head of the Propaganda Department of the CPSU Central Committee (1977-1982); USSR Ambassador to Romania (1982-1990).
