This book provides an extensive review of categorical status and incidence of the methods of euphemization. It also specifies the correlation between euphemia and a number of closely-related concepts (such as pseudoeuphemia, cryptolalia, Aesopian language, disinformation, figurative expressiveness and etc.) that gives the opportunity to perform a more complete functional thematic classification of euphemisms, to reveal and systemize ways of their formation. The solution to theoretical questions concerning lexicographic description of euphemisms is proposed here and the role of the latter in the development of lexical system of language is covered as well.
