The monograph generalizes the results of exploration of winter hibernation mechanism and temperature adaptations of mammals in cold conditions. The book contains a number of new data about the formation of hibernation rhythms of two species of forest hedgehogs in the European part of Russia and four hibernating species of squirrels living in Yakutia. Moreover, you can find the description of hibernation of the brown bear and badger based on changes in body temperature in the conditions of Yakutia. Data on the annual dynamics of body temperature of wolverine, lynx and roe deer are presented, too.
