One of the basic standards of a modern democratic state, a key element of every person's rights, is the guarantee of gender equality for all citizens. The foundation of this equality is the assumption that both women and men cannot be discriminated against on the basis of gender. Gender equality is multidimensional and is present in every aspect of the functioning of individuals, encompassing all spheres of social functioning. In recent years, more and more attention has been paid to various aspects of security and the relationships between them, especially in many areas of human security. There has been an increasing involvement of various institutions in the field of human rights and gender equality. As a result, the need to combat gender inequalities has been included in the agenda of actions at the international and national level, also implying changes in the military environment. Thus, since the mid-1990s, a number of important declarations, resolutions, policies and programs have been adopted, specifying numerous goals and principles regarding gender equality. A space was created for discussions and debates on the need to empower women, give them access to various professions, counteract all forms of violence and discrimination both at home and at work, develop their leadership skills and equal pay for equal work.
