Vasily Andreevich Zhukovsky (1783-1852) was a Russian poet, one of the founders of romanticism in Russian poetry, author of elegies, messages, songs, romances, ballads and epic works. Also known as a translator of poetry and prose, literary critic, teacher. In 1817-1841, teacher of the Russian language of the Grand Duchess, and then Empress Alexandra Feodorovna, and mentor of Tsarevich Alexander Nikolaevich. Privy Councilor.
